Beware - Email Phishing on the rise [return]
Cusomers should be aware that the volume of spam emails "pretending" to be from a legitimate company (ie: Phishing) has dramatically increased over recent days. Many of these emails look highly legitimate and professional, but as with all scams and spams etc, the best advice is common sense.
Some recent ones that we've seen include an email supposedly from "ENOM" (who are the domain registrar that we use for all our .com registrations), where the scammers try and scare you into thinking you've lost your domain name. As with all such scams, the link they wan't you to click on is NOT the official enom site, but a scam site, designed to either infect your computer with a virus, or con you into giving them your credit card details.
Then there's also also the usual "bank scam" emails, emails from paypal, from ebay etc etc....
Best advice - common sense. Do NOT click on ANY links in ANY email that you're not 100% of it's validity, and if you do need to click a link - "hover" over it with your mouse, and you should see the "actual" destination of the link (as opposed to the "pretend" destination that the spammer wants you to think you'll end up).
Treat every email you receive with caution, and you'll unlikely have any problems, and remember - if in doubt, call the bank, or NSDesign to seek advice before giving out any sensitive data to ANYONE.
